LSU to Host Student Entrepreneurs in Annual SEC Student Pitch Competition

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Louisiana State University will host the seventh Southeastern Conference Student Pitch Competition, as student entrepreneurs deliver their best presentations to a panel of judges on October 2-3.
Led by LSU’s E. J. Ourso College of Business, SEC teams will showcase their ideas for groundbreaking products or services to the judges panel, which includes several SEC alumni, who work primarily in the business sector.
The event includes two preliminary rounds of pitches, and judges will select three teams for the final round, which will be livestreamed on the College of Business’ YouTube channel. The top three finishing teams receive prizes and awards.
Examples of past winning ideas presented during the SEC competition include:
- Spring 2022: Vanderbilt University, ESG Impact, a business-to-business web application that assesses, educates, and integrates environmental, social, and governance best practices in private markets.
- Fall 2020: Auburn University, Vulcan Line Tools includes Wave Timer – a device that quickly measure the slack, tension and temperature of power lines.
- Fall 2019: Mississippi State University, Buzzbassador, a software that automates back-end services to help brands create ambassador and influencer programs.
The SEC Student Pitch Competition was first held in conjunction with the SEC Symposium in 2015 with Texas A&M University earning the top prize followed by Arkansas with back-to-back wins in 2017 and 2018.
