The Spring SEC College Tour made three stops in the Northeast, April 18-21. The trip, which included events in Westchester, NY; Morristown, NJ; and Philadelphia, was the first visit back to the region in three years.

In its eighth year, the Spring SEC College Tour provides an opportunity for admissions representatives from each conference university to travel together to an area outside of the SEC’s geographic footprint to host college fairs for high school students and their parents, and breakfasts for high school counselors in that region.

“We always enjoy participating in the SEC College Tour,” said Dr. Mary Wagner, Director of Undergraduate Admissions at the University of South Carolina. “The students who attend these fairs are prepared and enthusiastic about our institutions.”

In each city, the college fair is a time for high school students and their parents to visit with SEC admissions representatives and to hear individual university presentations. The high school counselors breakfasts center around brief presentations on SEC institutions.

“While athletics is the tie that binds us, high school students and counselors walk away from the event knowing that the SEC is home to many excellent academic opportunities,” said Wagner.

The SEC College Tour is part of SECU, the academic initiative of the Southeastern Conference. SECU serves as the primary mechanism through which the collaborative academic endeavors and achievements of SEC universities are promoted and advanced. Dates and locations for the Fall SEC College Tour, which focuses on counselor events, will be announced soon.
