BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Admissions and enrollment administrators from the Southeastern Conference’s 14 member universities will host the league’s first ever international SEC College Tour event in March, the Conference announced Thursday.
Organized by representatives from the University of Tennessee and Vanderbilt University, the two-day virtual college tour is open to school counselors, students and families from around the world. The counselor event will be held on March 8, while students and their families are invited to join a similar event on March 15.
“The goal of the SEC College Tour since its inception in 2009 has been to present our universities to those outside of our area, and for the first time in our history, we will intentionally do so with individuals who reside beyond our American borders,” said SEC Associate Commissioner for Academic Relations Dr. Torie A. Johnson. “We are excited about our first global engagement and about introducing SEC universities to the world in this way.”
The international SEC College Tour will build upon recent Conference events that were conducted virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and attendees will continue to have the opportunity to connect with SEC representatives while learning about the missions, academic and extracurricular opportunities, and admissions requirements of all 14 SEC institutions. The webinars will also include Q&A sessions and individual presentations from each SEC member.
The goal of the SEC College Tour is to broadly advance the merit and academic reputation of SEC universities through outreach events, and it is one of several programs designed by the Southeastern Conference to showcase the range of accomplishments of SEC students, faculty and administrators.
The full SEC College Tour portfolio includes in-person events for counselors each fall plus student and counselor events each spring. The Conference will also continue to conduct virtual tour events for domestic students and counselors.
