BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – In one month, admissions and enrollment representatives from the Southeastern Conference (SEC) will venture to the American Southwest to share the benefits of the SEC educational experience with school counselors in Nevada and Arizona.

The fall edition of the SEC College Tour offers attendees a chance to engage with university representatives in person while learning about the missions, academic and extracurricular opportunities, and admissions requirements of all 14 institutions in the Conference.

This fall’s tour will visit counselors in three cities: Las Vegas, Nevada; Chandler, Arizona and Phoenix, Arizona on September 17th and 18th. Stops along the way include breakfast (Las Vegas and Chandler) or lunch (Phoenix) meetings during which SEC representatives will share admissions deadlines and requirements, alongside general university highlights.

In its 12th year, the SEC College Tour provides an open forum for local high school students (spring only) and counselors in regions outside of the SEC’s geographic footprint to learn about SEC institutions from campus experts. Vanderbilt University is the planning institution for this fall’s event.

“The SEC Fall College Tour has proven to be an excellent way to extend our already robust outreach efforts to even more high school counselors,” said John Gaines, Director of Undergraduate Admissions at Vanderbilt University.

The goal of the tour is to broadly advance the merit and academic reputation of SEC universities through outreach events, and it is one of several programs designed by the Southeastern Conference to showcase the range of accomplishments of SEC students, faculty and administrators. The tour schedule includes time for university Q&A, informal counselor discussion and individual presentations from each member institution. These opportunities for face-to-face engagement are unique, and university representatives find the tour to be highly impactful across the country.

“Traveling together with our colleagues from around the SEC adds even more value to the professionals who attend these events,” said Gaines.
