The 2017 Spring SEC College Tour will visit three cities in Southern California, April 18-21. Tour stops include San Diego, Pasadena and Irvine, and the trip to the region is the first since 2014.

In its ninth year, the SEC College Tour provides an opportunity for local high school students and school counselors in a region outside of the SEC’s geographic footprint to learn about SEC institutions from admissions administrators representing each Conference university. The University of Kentucky is the planning institution for this spring’s event.

“The 14 SEC universities are excited to return to Southern California,” said Stephen Barnett, Senior Associate Director of Admissions at the University of Kentucky. “Our students are succeeding in classrooms and laboratories as much as they are on the court and in the field, and we are proud to showcase how we are igniting careers, transforming lives and changing the world.”

Each SEC College Tour stop includes two events. A college fair is held in the evening for high school students and their parents, which allows them to visit with admissions representatives and hear presentations from each university. The following morning, a school counselor breakfast allows university representatives to provide brief presentations about their institution’s history, admissions standards and student experiences.

“Students attend SEC universities because they want the best college experiences in the nation and we hope tour attendees will understand everything our universities have to offer and know that when it comes to starting a successful future – like the SEC has explained throughout the year – attending an SEC institution ‘just means more,’” said Barnett.

The SEC College Tour is administered by SECU, the academic initiative of the Southeastern Conference. SECU is the primary mechanism through which the SEC showcases the academic endeavors and achievements of its 14 member universities.
