The spring edition of the 2016 SEC College Tour will visit three cities in the Northeast, April 18-21. Locations include Westchester, N.Y., Morristown, N.J. and Philadelphia.
In its eighth year, the SEC College Tour advances the merit and academic reputation of SEC universities beyond the conference’s traditional region through college fairs for high school students and parents, and breakfasts for high school counselors. Auburn University is the planning institution for the event.
“When we visit areas of the country where they are not necessarily familiar with the schools of the SEC, when we come in mass, we show a big picture,” said Cindy Singley, Director of University Recruitment at Auburn. “We don’t have to spend as much time identifying our region because our region is self-defined by the Southeastern Conference.”
In each city, the college fair allows high school students and parents to visit with SEC admissions representatives, as well as hear individual university presentations. The high school counselors breakfasts center around brief presentations on SEC institutions.
In October, the first fall SEC College Tour was held in Colorado. The fall activity, which only consists of high school counselor events, included stops in Colorado Springs, Englewood, Ft. Collins and Broomfield.
The SEC College Tour is part of SECU, the academic initiative of the Southeastern Conference. SECU serves as the primary mechanism through which the collaborative academic endeavors and achievements of SEC universities are promoted and advanced.
